Home Health Aide

A Home Health Aide (HHA) provides basic care and assistance to people who are elderly, disabled, or recovering from illness or surgery—usually in the client’s home.

A Home Health Aide assists clients with daily living activities and personal care in a home setting. They help improve the client’s quality of life by supporting physical, emotional, and social well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with personal hygiene (bathing, grooming, dressing)

  • Help with mobility, including walking and transferring (bed to chair, etc.)

  • Monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure) if trained

  • Administer basic care under the supervision of a nurse or healthcare professional

  • Prepare meals and assist with feeding if needed

  • Perform light housekeeping (laundry, cleaning, organizing)

  • Provide companionship and emotional support

  • Remind clients to take medications (not administer unless certified)

  • Assist with errands such as grocery shopping or picking up prescriptions

  • Observe and report changes in the client’s condition to healthcare staff or family

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (sometimes required)

  • Certification as a Home Health Aide (varies by state/country)

  • Basic knowledge of healthcare and personal care practices

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Physical stamina and ability to lift/move clients

  • Compassion, patience, and reliability

  • Ability to follow care plans and instructions

 

Pay Rate

Companion

The Companion Caregiver provides non-medical support, companionship, supervision, and assistance with daily living activities to clients in their homes. The caregiver helps promote independence, dignity, comfort, and emotional well-being while ensuring a safe and supportive environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide companionship and emotional support to clients

  • Engage clients in conversation, activities, and social interaction

  • Assist with light housekeeping duties including laundry, dishes, dusting, and tidying living areas

  • Prepare and serve meals and assist with meal planning

  • Provide medication reminders (no medication administration unless authorized)

  • Assist with shopping, errands, and transportation to appointments if required

  • Encourage client participation in hobbies, exercise, and recreational activities

  • Observe and report changes in client condition, behavior, or environment to supervisor

  • Maintain accurate documentation of services provided

  • Follow client care plans and company policies and procedures

  • Promote client dignity, privacy, and respect at all times

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for clients

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

  • Previous caregiving or companion experience preferred

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally

  • Compassionate, dependable, patient, and trustworthy

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred

  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening

  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and assist clients as needed

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds if required

  • Ability to perform household tasks and accompany clients on outings

CNA

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct personal care and assistance to clients in their homes, nursing facilities, or healthcare settings. CNAs assist clients with daily living activities while promoting dignity, comfort, safety, and independence.

  • Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs)

    • Bathing

    • Dressing

    • Grooming

    • Toileting

    • Oral hygiene

  • Assist with mobility and transfers

  • Take and record vital signs

  • Assist with feeding and meal preparation

  • Observe and report changes in client condition

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to assist clients with transfers and mobility

  • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays if needed

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Job Description

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides basic nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician. The LPN assists with patient treatments, medication administration, monitoring, and daily healthcare support.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Administer medications and treatments as directed

  • Monitor patient health status and report changes

  • Assist with activities of daily living when needed

  • Document patient care accurately

  • Measure and record vital signs

  • Support patient comfort and safety

  • Follow infection-control and HIPAA guidelines

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Active Pennsylvania LPN license in good standing

  • Current CPR certification

  • Previous healthcare experience preferred

  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening
